Refuse and Recycling Update
Because of Connecticut’s new refuse sorting system, the labeling on the dumpsters is changed. Dumpsters labeled “trash” are for ordinary household refuse. Dumpsters labeled “single-streaming” are for all recycling materials.
Single-stream (also known as “fully commingled” or "single-sort") recycling refers to a system in which all recyclables--such as newspapers, paperboard, corrugated fiberboard, catalogs, magazines, junk mail, plastic, glass, and aluminum containers--are placed, unsorted, in one recycling bin. They will be sorted by state-of-the art processing equipment at a regional recycling center.
Please note that items such as chemicals, tires, furniture, construction materials, carpeting, paint, appliances, and water heaters are not to be placed in or by any of the dumpsters. You need to make special arrangements directly with LoPresti Carting for handling these large bulk items at: 203-798-8993.

Deck Power Washing and Staining
April 24, 2013
Dear Residents:
It's time for the deck power washing and sealing. Henry’s Painting (790-5615) will be working on Units 45-82.
Weather permitting; work will start Monday, April 29, 2013. The work includes power washing and applying one coat of preservative on the deck floor boards, posts and railings. The project will take approximately three weeks.
To clean and seal your deck, all items must be removed from the deck including furniture, plants, flower boxes, etc. with the exception of propane tanks. Propane tanks can be left on the deck and should not be stored in the unit for safety concerns.
The contractor is not responsible for any damage or loss to personal items left on the deck. After the work is completed, your furniture and plants can be reinstalled on the deck.
If you have any questions about the above, please call the Managing Agent. Every effort will be made to complete work on a timely basis; however, the completion of the work is contingent on the weather.
If you rent your unit, it is your responsibility to inform your tenant(s) of the power washing and sealing schedule.
Your cooperation and understanding is most appreciated.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors

Well Tank Renovation Notice
Stony Hill Village Condominium Association, Inc.
P. O. Box 275 Georgetown, CT 06829 (203) 938-3172
April 12, 2013
Dear Unit Owners and Tenants,
Starting May 7, 2013 the two 17,000-gallon underground water-storage tanks located at the well-water pump station will begin to be refurbished. Each tank will be drained, cleaned, and inspected; then its interior will be coated with drinking water safe Aquatapoxy. The tank work will be completed one tank at a time so that we can keep one tank in service while the other is being refurbished. In order to maintain enough water in storage while each tank is taken off line, a temporary water-storage tanker will be brought in and connected to the pump house. This tanker will be parked on the roadway adjacent to the pump house and connected with a temporary hose. This 8,000-gallon tanker is roughly one-half the size of each storage tank.
Well-water will supply the storage tank that is still online. However, in order to ensure that SHV’s water demand is satisfied, the temporary tanker will have daily water
deliveries to supplement the well water.
The tanker can only be filled with water from a treated public water system. So note that the delivered water will have chlorine in it. This is necessary in order to avoid the
possibility of bacteria entering the system while the temporary water supply is in place. Sometimes the chlorine may be at higher levels than most people have experienced with city water. Therefore, it is recommended that residents have bottled water for cooking and drinking while this work is being completed.
Also it is important to conserve water as much as possible during this time. The more water used, the more tanker deliveries are needed. The less water used, the less tanker deliveries are needed. Each tanker delivery increases the cost of the project.
This work is expected to last from May 7 through June 7 from start to finish. If further work is found to be needed this may extend the length of the project. If there are any questions please call Hungerford’s Pump Service at 1-800-441-9287 and ask for Brendan Rowley.
Regards,
The Board of Directors
